AndLinux : Running Linux Application within Window

I use Linux and Windows as my system operation. I use virtual machine in Windows and Linux, because I dont like to restart my computer to choose my system operation. But, I try to another method without virtual machine to running Linux application within Windows. After searching in Internet, I get AndLinux. Unlike virtual machine, I can Running Linux Application within Window without modification.

We can add quicklaunch icons, a start menu in the system tray, file type associations at your choice (e.g. for KOffice files, .tex / .dvi / .ps / .pdf files) and etc from my Linux Operation System in Windows Operating system. You can get all feature about this linux in http://www.andlinux.org. I am a new user in AndLinux, so I have many of problem when use AndLinux. So, I try to create AndLinux Tutorial, So new user interested with AndLinux user can get many information (AndLinux tutorial) in here.

After you success to install AndLinux, you can access root command with sudo command. But I can not login as root in AndLinux. I try to use sudo password in Linux but fail. This is a method how to change your root password in AndLinux.

1. Login as your username
2. Go to init 1 mode. Use command : sudo telinit 1
3. chang your root password. Use command : passwd root
4. Go to graphic mode (init 5) with command : sudo telinit 5
5. Now you can use login as root with your new password.

By default, AndLinux use Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) as repository. But, I can not update with this repo. I think this repo have erased in Ubuntu. I try to update AndLinux with  higher version of Ubuntu (Ubuntu 10.04 or newer) but I get many of error. After I searching in google, I get information that update Ubuntu from 8.04 or 9.04 to 10.04 or newer get many of errors (but you can try that if you want 🙂 ).

I am succes to update AndLinux with change repo to Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic koala). If you want to change your AndLinux repo with karmic koala repo, edit your /etc/apt/sources.list. Change jaunty word with karmic word. This is contents of my sources.list file :

After you save this file, dont forget to use command sudo apt-get update to update your new repository.
